FOSCAM 8905w HAS 2 VERSIONS OF THE 8905W THAT WAS RECENTLY DISCOVERED BY RAGECAMS. WE NEED TO VERIFY WHAT VERSION YOUR FI8905W IS (V1 VERSION 1) OR (V2 VERSION 2). PLEASE READ THIS AD AND CONFIRM FOR US THE CAMERA VERSION YOU HAVE. WE CAN HELP YOU DETERMINE THE BEST LENS FILTER OPTION FOR YOUR NEEDS THIS WAY. OUR KNOWLEDGEABLE SALES STAFF CAN HELP. 1 THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FOSCAM, IS THAT THE NEWER RECENTLY MADE MODELS HAVE AN IR CUT FILTER THAT IS IN PLACE BEFORE THE BOARD, & THATS THE PART THAT WAS ADDED THAT MAKES THESE LENSES NOT FIT CORRECTLY DUE TO THE SCREW HEADS. JUST LOOK ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR 6, 8 OR 12MM LENS & SEE IF THERE IS A PINK SQUARE FILTER INSTALLED/GLUED ON, IF THERE IS, THEN YOU HAVE VERSION 1 V1. IF THERE IS NO FILTER ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR CURRENT LENS YOU HAVE THE V2 VERSION , THEN YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR 2 SCREWS TO ALLOW THE LENS TO THREAD & FOCUS CORRECTLY, THE SCREWS SECURE THE IR FILTER HOUSING PART TO THE PLASTIC PART THAT HOLDS THE SENSOR, ITS VERY EASY TO DO.

This is the newly developed Professional RageCams Model FI-28mm f1.6 ir lens. The biggest complaint we hear about this camera was that the foscam usually ships with a very narrow view 8, OR 12mm lens and thats only good for long range video.

This new 2.8mm lens covers the widest field of view available to date! PERFECTLY FITS UNDER THE FRONT GLASS KEEPING IT YOUR CAMERA WATERPROOF. We do have wider angle lenses for this camera, but using them will not allow the lens glass front of the foscam to fit back on.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:

THAT THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT FI8905W CAMERAS ON THE MARKET, 1 WITH SCREWS THAT ARE NORMAL & THE OTHER WITH SCREWS THAT PREVENT THE 2.8MM LENS FROM FOCUSING CORRECTLY WHICH IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE THE MODEL WITH THE 2 BAD SCREWS THIS IS HOW YOU SOLVE THE FOCUS PROBLEM.

We finally figured out the focus problem, just when we though this was a super smooth install, it appears that foscam has changed their sensor screws to a different type that keeps this 2.8mm lens from threading in all the way to achieve perfect focus. This is a very minor issue, & not all of the foscam 8905w cameras use these new screws, just recently we have noticed this change after a few customers said the lens didnt focus right & they watched the video over & over, & after already selling over 100 lenses with no problems at all, we were confused ourselves & had our customer send us his camera so we could figure this odd dilemma out.

So we installed the lens for him correctly & shipped it back to him & he is very happy with the work done. We do offer this install service if you dont feel comfortable doing this & want us to install the lens for you correctly.

We also self insure our work if something happens & accept full liability for getting you a working camera if things go bad, so no worries. We have some replacement screws available that work but limited qty & only will send them if needed for the new v2 model.

1 THING YOU NEED TO REMEMBER ABOUT THE FOSCAM, IS THAT THE NEWER RECENTLY MADE MODELS HAVE AN IR CUT FILTER THAT IS IN PLACE BEFORE THE BOARD, & THATS THE PART THAT WAS ADDED THAT MAKES THESE LENSES NOT FIT CORRECTLY DUE TO THE SCREW HEADS.

SO WE HAVE A FEW FIX OPTIONS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE OLDER MODEL, WHICH THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN TELL IF YOU HAVE THE OLDER OR NEWER MODEL IS TO REMOVE THE LENS & CONFIRM IF THE REAR OF THE LENS HAS A PINK SQUARE FILTER GLUED ON THE METAL.

IF YOU HAVE THE OLDER MODEL: We also offer this lens with different filter choices you can pick the one you want from the 3 below:

1-(No Filter) this allows your camera to have better brighter night vision then before, but daytime colors will be CLEAR but washed out & changed to a black & white image appearance.

THE NO FILTER VERSION IS RECOMMENDED, BECAUSE IF YOU DECIDE YOU WANT THE FOSCAM DAY NIGHT FILTER BACK INSTALLED ON YOUR CAMERA, YOU CAN SIMPLY REMOVE IT OFF YOUR ORIGINAL 8 OR 12MM LENS BY USING A HAIR DRYER TO HEAT IT UP AND THEN TAKE A SMALL REGULAR HEAD SCREWDRIVER, RAZOR BLADE, OR A BUTTER KNIFE, & GENTLY APPLY SOME SIDE FORCE & PRY THE LITTLE FILTER UPWARDS TO BREAK THE GLUE SEAL. EASILY GLUE IT ON THE 2.8MM FROM US USING ONLY TINY PIN DABS OF GORILLA GLUE, SPARINGLY, ONLY NEEDS TO LOOK A LITTLE WET TO WORK & HOLD WELL.

2- (Day Night filter) CAN BE REMOVED FROM YOUR CURRENT 8 OR 12MM LENS & REINSTALLED ON THE 2.8MM The camera image will look just like the day and night images you have now, just widen the view up.

3- (Day filter) gives perfect color replication during the day much better than the stock lens filter, but wont see any infrared light at night SO YOU WONT HAVE NIGHT VISION IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION, BUT WIL BE POOR IN LOWER LIGHT.
