I am a moutain biker that has forever longed to share my daring stunts and insane speeds with my friends and family. I purchased the Sony 520 helmet cam kit and the Phillips Portable Digital Media Player for my recording device (also see my review on the Phillips Recorder). My first filmed trail was great. The video quality is excellent! There was very little shake in the film despite screeming down a rough trail on a hardtail. However, keep in mind that any helmet cam video cannot give an accurate description of slope. 45% grade sections looked much more mild, so that was kinda dissapointing. Crashes are funny to watch and the camera lives on after a direct impact with a rock. Scenic trails are amazing, the camera adjusts to light well, (thanks in part to the lens filters), good color and excellent quality. Displayes best on screens 17" and below. The kit includes everything you need to get going. The cables are plenty long, the mounts are very useful. The battery pack lasts about 3 hours running both the camera and the mic. The mic is kinda quiet, but it blocks out wind sheer very well. The power splitter comes seperately from the power cords, so you have to splice it in yourself.
Overall the kit has perfomed above my expectations and I look forward to purchasing additional lenses for shooting all kinds of activities. Thanks StuntCams!
